Sam also plays tennis, having won the Australian Tennis Championships singles competition in both 2017 and 2019. Tokyo 2020 will be his second Paralympic Games.

A Japanse athlete, Takeshi was born in Matsudo City, and has proven himself to be a consistent player both nationally and internationally. A player with a powerful forehand, he placed second at the ITTF Costa Brava Spanish Para Open in 2020. Tokyo 2020 will be his second Paralympic Games.
