EDITORIAL

Serge Revial
Mayor of Tignes
Dear athletes, dear members of the French Federation of Adapted Sport, members of the Virtus International Federation,
Tignes is extremely proud to host the Virtus 2025 Alpine Skiing World Championships from March 30 to April 5. This collaboration supports the municipality’s commitment to inclusivity and accessibility for all, symbolized by the signing of the H+ Initiative on December 16. The Virtus 2025 Alpine Skiing World Championships in Tignes represents an important step in the development of Adapted Sports.
This is the first time that skiers will compete on an FIS-approved slope. The Lognan Stadium, a venue where the French Adapted Sport Team has trained several times in the past and which hosted the FIS Para Alpine Skiing World Cup earlier this season, will be the venue for your competition. New champions will join those who have made their mark on the history of this legendary venue. We look forward to contributing to the development of your events and hope that this will foster your inclusion in the 2030 Paralympic Winter Games, the most prestigious competition in which skiers with intellectual impairment are currently not represented. The Tignes resort is world-renowned for its expertise in organising international competitions. Rest assured that all the region’s stakeholders are already mobilised to make this event a success. Tignes will once again be there!
While looking forward to meeting you and attending this great celebration of Adapted Sport, I send you my best wishes for your competition.
DESCRIPTION OF THE VENUE
Located in the Haute Tarentaise region of the Savoie department, the municipality of Tignes is divided into eight villages and hamlets, ranging from 1,550 m to 2,100 m above sea level.
The Tignes municipality is surrounded by the highest peaks in Savoie, such as the Grande Casse and the Grande Sassière, and the Vanoise National Park, a wild nature reserve that stretches across the entire Vanoise massif between the Tarentaise and Maurienne valleys.
World-renowned for the quality of its ski area and its dynamism, the municipality also strives to be inclusive and innovative. Tignes has decided to take its future into its own hands: the year-round quality of life for its 2,000 residents and the region’s transition to the effects of climate change are at the heart of the projects of the current term.
