Virtus: World Intellectual Impairment Sport will hold its next International Day of Sport for Athletes with an Intellectual Impairment in September 2020.
Through it we want to raise the profile of the world’s best athletes, Virtus: World Intellectual Impairment Sport and its members. We hope that we can use the occasion to get more potential athletes interested at a grass roots level.
World Intellectual Impairment Sport hopes that our day will become an exciting annual focal point in the calendar for fans, supporters, Virtus: World Intellectual Impairment Sport member organisations and partner global activity. We want to use the scale of multiple events and activities to raise awareness, and harness corporate and media support.
Here are some ideas for Virtus: World Intellectual Impairment Sport members, athletes, families and members of the public:
- Host national Championships/open events
- Organise ‘have a go’ events to increase exposure
- Invite potential sponsors and media partners to meet athletes and cover competitions
- Share your favourite memories, pictures and videos of athletes on social media
Virtus: World Intellectual Impairment Sport will also be sharing updates from member organisations and athletes. As a charity it aims to use the day to raise funds to support its work. If you would like to make a donation, please visit our support us page.
