The results of the 2020 Virtus Para Equestrian video competition have been announced today, with Spains Sonia Villalba taking top honours in the II1 (intellectual disability) competition.
Each athlete is able to enter the competition on up to two horses and Sonia’s rides were enough to take both gold and silver position ahead of Germany’s Tatjana Raible who won bronze.
In the II3 competition (autism – no intellectual disability), Anna Beem (USA) won gold in a new category for the competition.
Riders perform a series of pre-defined moves in strict conditions in their local equestrian facility. The performance is recorded and assessed by a panel of judges, making the competition accessible to many more people – particularly at a time when international travel and competition has not been possible.
Uta Rindfleisch-Wu, Virtus Sport Director (Equestrian) congratulated all the entrants “The coronavirus pandemic affected the number of people who could participate this year, but we are delighted to see some strong entries and I would like to thank all those riders and their trainers who supported the competition.
Winning performances can be found on the Virtus Youtube channel.
